Student Council Election
Parent Permission Letter
Dear Parent,
Your son/daughter has shown an interest in applying for a position in Student Council, but must have your permission.
The Student Council is composed of students whose primary roles are:
1. to inform school administration about student concerns
2. to organize, plan, and coordinate social functions for students
3. to organize, plan, and coordinate student involvement in community service projects
4. to assist with special school functions
5. to serve as an official good-will ambassador for the school
Student Council builds character and develops leadership, confidence, responsibility, organization, and teamwork; but all of this takes a student’s time and energy. There will be times when students need to be at school before and after classes. It is a time-consuming, but rewarding responsibility.
This is only a parent permission slip you are signing. Students must be selected according to the criteria listed. Parents have the right to know about the challenge that is involved once a student is selected. You must decide whether your son/daughter has the time available to serve the school and fellow students before you sign.
Please also consider these expectations to be met throughout the school year in order to continue membership on the MCMS Student Honor Council:
· Students cannot miss more than 3 Student Honor Council Meetings that are held during their lunch time.
· Students must volunteer for 5 service projects.
· Students must maintain good attendance.
· Students may receive no BSR or out-of-school suspensions. Students will be removed immediately at the discretion of the principal or advisers.
· Students may not earn D’s or F’s on their nine-week report card
and must maintain a C average.
Please sign, if you give your consent, and have your son/daughter return this permission slip to Mrs. Boles or Mr. Morrison by June 4th. Thank you.
